Greetings from Las Vegas!
Visiting with hundreds of customers and vendors here at Interop 2014, a key message is emerging from the show – Big data and high performance public cloud infrastructure are driving an increase in deployments with no signs of slowing down.
Regardless of industry, organizations, both large and small, are collecting ever-increasing amounts of unstructured data using new NoSQL and MPP databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, Greenplum, and Vertica. Additionally, Hadoop distributions from MapR and Hortonworks make all of this data available for analytics tools. The vast majority of the growth in data sets and sources has been driven by the switch from analog to digital technologies, as well as the decreasing cost of data storage.
ProfitBricks works with leading big data systems integrators, like Altoros, to bring the power of the cloud to the high demand of their customers. Thanks in part to the second-generation technologies like software-defined networking (SDN) and InfiniBand that are at the heart of the ProfitBricks cloud, big data customers can easily deploy Hadoop clusters for both temporary projects and continuous big data analysis programs. ProfitBricks’ high-performance InfiniBand-based IaaS enables big data/HPC clients to scale on-demand, no matter the size of the project.
